Toggle bolts usually come with spring-action wings and are intended for anchoring into hollow walls. The wing is designed to spread apart behind the base material upon installation for firm hold in hollow wall applications. The wing disperses the weight of the secured item over a larger area, increasing the weight that can be secured compared to a regular bolt. These Hillman Self-Drilling Toggle Bolts for Drywall (8 x 2-1/2") combine the screw and wing pieces into one simple function. Drill the bolt directly into the drywall and then secure in place using the included 8 x 2-1/2" screw. The maximum allowable weight load for this item in 1/2" drywall is 100 lbs.
