    Description

    Up for auction is a
    one-of-a-kind and unique item
for the avid BOSTON rock band fan. Boston was my favorite band growing up (and Brad's voice was incredible).
    This is a
    HUGE, original, and
    SIGNED
by the band members art banner from 1987
--over 30 years ago--that you definitely won't find anywhere else. Because there's
    only one
(and I helped paint it in my much younger college days in Philly). It's a piece of original artwork and a concert banner rolled into one.
    It measures about
    111" x 62"
, so it's approximately 9' long x 5' wide--you'll need a lot of space to hang it on a wall. It does have some grommets along the top of the canvas for you to hang it. (I had it hanging in my room for many years in the early 90s.)
This was signed by the band backstage at their first concert in Philadelphia
, which took place at the old Spectrum in June of 1987 (I believe June 25, 1987). I was in college then and it was awesome to finally see them live after growing-up with their first and second albums. This was the tour to support their much-anticipated third album,
    THIRD STAGE
, which was finally released in 1986 after much delay and litigation.
I helped paint the banner along with the truly talented artist, Kirk Dupuis. Our names and his company name, AIRWORX, appear in the lower left corner (along with another person), and the year (Pic #12). It depicts the Philadelphia skyline with a recreation of the mother ship from the Third Stage album cover, launching a smaller ship towards the Spectrum, which was the main Philly concert venue at the time.
    The banner is nicely
    autographed
by the band's 1987 members, including the late great
    BRAD DELP
, who unfortunately committed suicide in 2007,
    TOM SCHOLZ
    (of course),
GARY PIHL, JIM MASDEA, DAVID SIKES
    , and
    DOUG HUFFMAN
(see pics #6-11). You'll also see that Delp, Scholz, Huffman, and Sikes added personal notes about how much they loved the banner. Please see the pics!
    Condition:
This has been in storage for quite some time, but is still in very good shape overall. However, the paint is flaking off a bit in the upper left corner on the left-side of the "Boston" logo, in a vertical line (pic #2). I can provide another close-up picture of this if you want (eBay only lets me post 12).
You'll also see there are several other white spots, marks, blemishes, and scratches on the banner throughout
. This is over 30 years old, after all! If you want more pics of a particular area though, please let me know and I'll try to get them to you. If you're an artist and have the patience, you can probably touch these areas up, but since I'm not I never tried. In addition if you look
    very closely
at the signatures & writing, it's unclear whether they bled into the canvas over 30 years, or faded from age and were re-traced by the artist. But all signatures are absolutely genuine and authentic! If you love Boston you'll love this unique and one-of-a-kind piece of music history and memorabilia.
    Winning bidder:
I reserve the right to cancel the sale if the winning bidder has negative or limited feedback, or has engaged in questionable conduct on eBay.
Payment must be received within three (3) days
--unless we expressly agree to other arrangements--or I'll cancel the sale and re-list it.
I have a 100% feedback rating on eBay (and have been buying & selling here for over 21 years), so buy with confidence!
    Shipping:
This is big and weighs about 11-12 lbs; it will be shipped in a heavy cardboard tube. So shipping may be expensive--especially if you live on the West Coast. Please note that someone must be home to
    personally sign for the delivery
. I'm using FedEx Ground--their rates are much better than the USPS--so I can't ship to a P.O. box. You must have a physical street address that is
    eBay/PayPal-verified
. I don't ship internationally; this will be shipped to a U.S. address only.
    Local pick up is free:
If you're in the Boston area and would like to pick the banner up directly and save on shipping costs, please let me know and we should be able to make arrangements.
    Sales Tax:
eBay may charge you sales tax, which it started doing depending on where you live.
I have nothing to do with it and can't keep eBay from collecting it
. Sorry about that. (But if you're not paying it for now, enjoy it while you can because more states are jumping onto the sales tax bandwagon!)
    Cash Discount?
If you're the winning bidder and plan on picking the banner up in Boston (see above), I may give a 3% pre-sales tax discount for paying in cash when you arrive. For example, if you pay ,749.00 for it, you would get a
    .47 discount
(before sales tax). But since eBay starting charging sales tax for most purchases, I have to see whether I can easily do this. You may still need to pay sales tax regardless...
    As is:
    Because
of its age and overall condition, the banner is being sold
    AS IS
. Thus, please review the description and pics carefully. Let me know if you have any questions
    before
    purchase. Returns will
    not
    be accepted.
Thank you for looking (and reading)!
